With over 25 years experience of advocacy and research in the Local Government, State Government and the non-government sectors and qualifications in social work and planning, Alex has developed a unique understanding of the key strategic issues which are critical to managing the future of our cities across many areas including transport, infrastructure, education, employment, social equity and the environment.
Through his active and sometimes passionate engagement in strategic planning in Western Sydney, Alex has developed strong expertise in innovative policy development, research, analysis, consultation, submission preparation and report writing. He has also helped to build and lead a number of advocacy, lobbying and media campaigns around policy issues as well as working with councils to develop common strategies, lead major regional projects and to share resources.
In addition, his role in managing one of Australia's leading regional local government advocacy organisations for over 12 years means that Alex has considerable experience in organisation development and management, facilitating planning forums and developing strategic plans, conducting organisation reviews, budget and project management and systems development.
